Richard heads Kimbells' litigation department, having joined from Allen & Overy in 1995. He is passionate in providing commercial and cost-effective solutions to clients' problems.

Career highlights include:

• The ground-breaking insolvency cases Re Atlantic Computers and Re Paramount Airways.
• Injunctions for a leading aircraft leasing company - the record being five aircraft recovered in one night!
• Acting in relation to a series of cases relating to pub companies involving competition law issues, including Passmore v Morland plc and Trent Taverns v Sykes; McKenzie-Smith v Scottish & Newcastle (application for judicial review of specific exemption); Scottish & Newcastle plc v Bond; Matthew Brown plc v Reid; Scottish & Newcastle International Ltd v Othon Ghalanos Ltd and Blackie Boy Limited v Scottish & Newcastle plc (declaration that terms of lease comply with block exemption, Regulation 2790/99).
• Defeating claims against a national brewer that it had wrongly terminated a contract for the distribution of MGD beer in Northern Ireland: James E McCabe Ltd v Scottish Courage Ltd.
• Acting on the first case in the House of Lords on the scope of EC Regulation 44/2001 (jursidictional).

Richard is an accredited mediator and has experience of being a client, both from working in the legal department of BL plc and as Chairman of Milton Keynes Community Properties Limited.
